A bit less wind today. Went to check out Sprecks in the morning as the wind shadow at Kanaha was a bit of a pain, it looked good but we were duty bound to Kanaha as we had agreed to race against the Army team.

Went out on the JP Wave 80 with a 4.7 Combat and had a play on the waves at Uppers before returning to the beach for the race. Everybody had gone for larger kit for the race (though it was supposed to be fun some were taking it quite seriously). The start was a joke as there was no wind. I took an early lead sailing my board 2 feet under water at 1 mph (I was lucky enough not to fall in). The race course was twice through the Washing Machine to gybe once through the last line of the white water and one gybe close to the beach. The wind filled in and it was planing all the way after that with a big jump going through the reef.

We got the first 2 places but somehow the Army managed to intepret the results so they won. After that it was back to free sailing on Uppers catching some nice waves with some good jumps.

Finished off the day watching the pros down at Hookipa. It looked challenging but not impossible though no one else in the group was willing to have a go.
